Oh, Pennsylvania. My dad used to live in the rural community of Big Run, PA (population 638), right down the highway from this sign directing travelers to the curiously named villages of “Paradise”, “Desire”, and “Panic”! They are primarily Amish communities, as is indicated by the hand painted sign for the Buggy Repair Shop.
I’ve never been, but I hear that Lancaster County, PA also has neighboring communities named “Blue Ball” and “Intercourse”.
Foto Friday is a series where I go back through my archives to share photos that I love either because I think they are beautiful or they have an interesting story. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

What a funny sign. We visited Lancaster County few years back, and it was great to get to know the Amish Community.

Great! Did you get to try any Amish-made foods? When we were down in Lancaster we loved whoopie pie, the homemade root beer and pretzels they sell at roadside stands and all kinds of pickles, jellies and jams!

Drove by that intersection many many times.
