While I love to go camping, I understand it’s not for everyone. And even for me, after a few nights, the dirt and the sagging air mattress starts to get on my nerves. And then, there are the creepy crawlies…
That’s why I’m intrigued by the new travel trend taking off called, “glamping”. Glamping is “glamourous camping,” that mixes the sights and sounds and smells of the outdoors, with comforts from home. It’s becoming popular with travelers that would never consider pitching a tent or donning a sleeping bag.
I just learned about one glamping opportunity in Montana that sounds like an absolute dream. The Ranch at Rock Creek is a luxury guest ranch that brings together upscale amenities with raw, western adventure.
The Ranch has some serious luxe camping cred: It was one of the first glamping accommodations in the US and it received the Forbes 5-star Travel Guide award. Kate Bosworth even held her star-studded wedding there.
It’s a pretty spectacular place – it’s luxurious, not just by camping standards, but by any standard of travel. The spacious canvas tent cabins sleep up to five people–the larger tents are nearly as big as some apartments I’ve lived in! All tent cabins, feature private baths and comfortable beds with luxe bedding. So you get the comforts of home, but with the wild sound of a stream running just outside your front door.
Each stay includes full board with breakfast, lunch, dinner and wine in the Lodge’s restaurant.
The all-inclusive package includes any of the wild Montana adventures you might want to do, like horseback riding, fly fishing, kayaking, and hiking trips. Once you’re done with the outdoor adventures, check on-site Granite Spa to rest and relax.
The Ranch is located in Philipsburg, Montana, Between Butte and Missoula. If you’re interested in pairing this visit with a trip to some of our great western national parks, it’s an easy trip to either Yellowstone or Glacier National Parks.
I’ve never been to Montana but Kevin and I have been talking about going up to Yellowstone one day soon. I’d love to pair it with a trip to this resort!

Have you ever been “glamping”?

That looks absolutely beautiful. The tents remind me of the place I stayed in St. John.
