Today is Groundhog Day in the US and in honor of this quirky holiday (wherein a groundhog is asked to predict the end of winter), I dug up some photos we took in Punxsutawney, PA several years ago.
My parents were living right outside of “Punxsy” and my dad was eager to take us to meet the visionary groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil. Throughout the year Phil lives at the Groundhog Zoo, a glass-fronted enclosure built aside the local library. We also went up to Gobbler’s Knob, the rural staging area where Phil make his annual forecast.
In reviewing these old photos, I remembered a nice memory. This was the very first time I took Kevin home to meet my family! As you can probably guess–they liked him.
Here’s to Phil not seeing his shadow! Happy Groundhog Day!
PS–Spell check thinks I should change “Punxsutawney”to the word “subcutaneous”.

He was not the only one! There were giant statues of Phil wearing different outfits all over town, sponsored by local businesses 🙂

Knowing me, I’d be obsessed and take photos of them ALL.
