It’s crazy that places like South America are more focused on things like “open streets” than here in the US… DC is a walkable city and tons of people bike. There isn’t too much community related activities going though. I know that people are trying to get people more involved; but DC is so transient, it’s hard to get people together.

That’s an interesting observation, that DC more than other US cities would be hard to organize something like this! Those capitol wonks can’t take a morning off to ride their bike? 🙂
