This view from the small town of Elk, CA taken from an ocean view bed and breakfast perched on a cliff. The mist-covered hills are beautiful, and characteristic of the coastal areas of Mendocino County.
Foto Friday is a series where I go back through my archives to share photos that I love either because I think they are beautiful or they have an interesting story. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Lovely photo! I am a huge fan of Northern California and PCH. Whenever I drive through the mountains there, I have to stop and just stare.

Thanks, Pola! I feel very lucky to live close to this, though I really do miss the fall colors and occasionally the snow of my native East Coast (I was just admiring the photos of fall leaves on your University of Illinois post!) There’s so much beauty all across the country!
Pola (@jettingaround) says
There really is! I do like fall colors, but I’m not much of a winter person (despite living in Chicago), so California always looks appealing to me. 🙂

The building on the left of your picture is in the movie Homegrown (1998) as an upscale open air restaurant. I highly recommend that you watch that movie. Thanks to your picture I was able to locate the building shown in the movie by searching ‘California coast Bed and Breakfast” on Google Images!
